Iran wants to create "trade window" at Astara border checkpoint
The Customs Department of Iran
Shahbazi said on Apr. 30 that the Customs Department is ready to cooperate with the Caspian countries and strengthen the fight against smuggling.

The Anzali Free Zone hosted Apr. 29-30 the 15th meeting of the heads of commerce chambers of the Caspian countries. The event was attended by about 100 representatives of chambers of commerce and over 400 Iranian businessmen.

Shahbazi believes the meeting of the Caspian countries’ commerce chambers in the Anzali Free Zone will create an opportunity for the development of the trade in the region and the economic ties between the countries.

“The event will also allow creating a foundation to coordinate the trade activities and problem solving, as well as co-investing of the businessmen of the five countries,” said Shahbazi.

Anzali Free Zone is the only free economic zone of Iran on the Caspian coast.

Goods are imported and exported through this zone from the Caspian states, Turkey and the Gulf countries.
